We're working with a leading Canadian financial services organisation currently investing heavily in its digital banking and mobile technology platforms. They are seeking a Lead Android Developer to join a high-performing mobile engineering team responsible for delivering features used by millions of customers.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior Android engineer who enjoys remaining hands-on while also providing technical leadership, mentoring developers, and influencing engineering best practices across a large-scale enterprise environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, develop and maintain native Android applications.
- Lead development initiatives across multiple concurrent projects.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Android developers.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, UX teams, QA engineers and backend development teams.
- Drive code quality, application performance and engineering standards.
- Participate in technical design discussions and architectural decisions.
- Support the delivery of new digital banking capabilities within a fast-paced agile environment.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of a modern Android platform.
Required Experience
- Strong commercial Android development experience.
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Kotlin
- Jetpack Compose
- Java
- XML
- Experience leading development initiatives or mentoring other engineers.
- Strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns and best practices.
- Experience working within large-scale enterprise environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have
- Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) experience.
- Banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Published Android applications or experience managing Play Store releases.
- Experience supporting large-scale consumer-facing mobile applications.
