Role Summary

  • Participate in daily Scrum meetings
  • Review team members’ code and perform peer code reviews
  • Participate in refining sessions, estimate upcoming work
  • Champion a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge
  • Work with product owners and business system analysts to refine ticket requirements in JIRA and Confluence, review pull requests, and implement documented designs
  • Develop high‑quality code in collaboration with designers, product owners, and QA testers
  • Collaborate closely with Android, iOS, and backend developers to work on new features and incremental improvements to the bank’s flagship mobile app
  • Adhere to and demonstrate coding conventions and best practices, helping maintain the project architecture
  • Continuously review others’ code, provide suggestions, and catch potential issues
  • Balance user experience, performance (client and backend), and security
  • Consider the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day‑to‑day activities and decisions
  • Promote effective operations aligned with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, ensuring operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk controls
  • Champion a high‑performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of Android development experience
  • 5+ years with design patterns such as MVVM and clean‑code architecture
  • 5+ years of Kotlin, RxJava, Dagger, Android Studio, and related Android tools
  • Experience with authentication systems
  • Experience building apps that consume RESTful APIs

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of unit testing
  • UI testing experience
  • Experience with accessibility and analytics
  • Experience integrating third‑party libraries and SDKs
  • Strong foundation in software engineering and computer science principles
