RESPONSIBILITIES:

OpenKyber has a client that is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer - AppSec Specialist for a hybrid, contract-to-hire opportunity in Greensboro, NC.

What You'll Do:
  • As a Senior DevSecOps Engineer, you will operate at the intersection of application security, software development, and DevSecOps, driving real security outcomes across enterprise environments.
  • Application Security & Testing: Perform security assessments across web, mobile, API, and cloud-based applications.
  • Conduct SAST, SCA, DAST, and API security testing.
  • Validate vulnerabilities, reduce false positives, and prioritize risks.
  • Track findings through remediation and closure.
  • Secure Code Review: Review source code to identify vulnerabilities and security gaps.
  • Analyze architecture and secure design practices.
  • Identify and guide remediation for issues such as cross-site scripting (XSS), SQL injection, authentication and authorization flaws, API and data exposure risks.
  • Developer Partnership & Consulting: Work directly with developers to explain vulnerabilities and risks, provide clear, actionable remediation guidance, help teams adopt secure development best practices, act as a trusted advisor throughout the SDLC.
  • DevSecOps & Automation: Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.
  • Support automation, tooling, and security scanning processes.
  • Enhance security visibility and enable developer self-service.
  • Continuously improve DevSecOps processes and efficiency.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3-6+ years of experience (mid-to-senior level) in Application Security, DevSecOps, or Software Engineering.
  • Strong programming experience in one or more of the following: Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with secure SDLC practices, vulnerability management, OWASP Top 10, API and cloud security concepts.
  • DevSecOps & Tools: Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub, etc.).
  • Familiarity with security tools and automation.
  • Understanding of SAST, SCA, DAST, and API security (Preferred/Nice to have).
  • Experience with tools such as Checkmarx (SAST), Nexus IQ (SCA), Black Duck or WhiteHat (DAST), Noname (API Security).
  • Cloud experience (AWS or Azure).
  • Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
