Job Summary:
The Application Programmer / QA Engineer (Junior / Intermediate) is responsible for ensuring the quality and accessibility of software applications and scientific research systems through comprehensive testing and development support. This role involves manual and automated testing, automation script development, and participation in Agile processes to maintain high standards in software delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Perform manual and automated software testing.
- Develop automated test scripts and test plans.
- Execute API, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing.
- Conduct Section 508 accessibility reviews.
- Maintain defect tracking and testing documentation.
- Support CI/CD testing activities.
- Participate in Agile planning and review activities.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with Selenium and Cypress for automated testing.
- Proficiency in JMeter and Postman for performance and API testing.
- Programming skills in Python, Java, and JavaScript.
- Knowledge of Drupal content management system.
- Familiarity with CI/CD testing practices.
- Experience with Section 508 accessibility testing.
- Version control using Git/GitHub.
- Working knowledge of Linux environments.
- Experience with containerization tools such as Docker or Podman.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Additional certifications or experience in Agile methodologies.
- Advanced skills in test automation frameworks and scripting.
- Experience with scientific research software systems.
Special Considerations:
- Contractors working remotely must attend one in-person meeting annually at Beltsville, MD, 20705.
Scheduling:
- Work is primarily remote with required annual in-person meeting.
