About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Application Solution and Technical Architect to lead the technical vision for our upcoming business spin-off. In this pivotal role, you will define and govern our target application landscape and technical standards. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring architectural integrity, championing security by design, and guaranteeing seamless operability across all applications and integrations.
What You Will Do
As a key technical leader, you will balance strategic design with robust governance. Your core responsibilities include:
Architectural Strategy: Produce the target application blueprint, reference architectures, and define non-functional requirements (including availability, performance, DR/BCP, and observability).
Portfolio Management: Guide critical decisions on whether to rehost, refactor, replace, or retire systems. You will rationalize the application portfolio and strategically sequence modernization efforts where they are most beneficial.
Integration & Data Design: Design robust API and integration patterns, define data models, and establish master data boundaries in close collaboration with the Integration Lead.
DevOps & Infrastructure Governance: Establish a clear Dev/Test/Prod environment strategy and set guardrails for CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in partnership with the DevOps team.
Operational Excellence: Define strict criteria for logging, monitoring, alerting, and operational handover. You will also actively support solution reviews and provide design assurance.
Security First: Ensure security and privacy are built-in by design (enforcing least privilege, secrets management, and encryption), working closely with the Security Lead.
Vendor & Debt Management: Review vendor and third-party solutions, and effectively manage technical debt and waivers through the Technical Debt Register (TDR).
What You Will Deliver
You will be responsible for producing key technical artifacts, including:
Target architecture diagrams
Standards and patterns catalogues
Solution option assessments
Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) matrices
Design review reports
Technical Debt Register (TDR) updates
What You Bring to the Team
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in solution and application architecture across SaaS, custom, and COTS environments. Previous experience in business separations or carve-outs is strongly preferred.
Architectural Expertise: Strong capabilities in designing APIs, data models, and integration patterns, with deep familiarity in both microservice and monolithic patterns as appropriate.
End-to-End Ownership: Proven experience managing the full application lifecycle in production, covering solution design, development, enhancement, performance optimization, CI/CD, and release/cutover.
Technical Skills: Strong hands-on programming proficiency in Java, PHP, Python, SQL, and RESTful APIs. You should have extensive experience in application integration, database interaction, plugin/extension development, secure API design and consumption, data modeling/ETL, and integration via web services and SSO/OAuth2/SAML.
Bonus Qualifications: Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, MS Power Platform, PowerBuilder, Jira, and test automation tools is a strong advantage.
Communication: You are a clear, articulate communicator capable of running technical design workshops and producing decision-quality documentation.
Language & Availability Requirements: Fluency in both English and Cantonese is required. This role requires an onsite presence in Hong Kong and the flexibility to be available for after-hours or weekend work to support critical migration and cutover windows.
