Apprentice Crew Instructor
Location: San Antonio, TX 78217
Duration: 6-month contract
Pay range: $55 - $65/hr. on w2 (without benefits)
Position Summary: The Apprentice Crew Instructor delivers the eight-month formal training for first-year apprentices under the supervision of the Apprentice Crew Foreman and JATC. This person is responsible for providing instructor lead and hands-on training in a simulated environment to meet the program's objectives.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Review instructional materials and update them to meet current standards and specifications
- Communicate the expectations and goals to the apprentices and assign tasks that align with the program
- Deliver apprentice training under the supervision of a lead instructor
- Lead apprentice training safely in accordance with the client's APG and Safety Handbook
- Identify skill gaps through observations and develop learning plans to close gaps
- Analyze apprentice development needs through coaching conversations
- Develop training materials (e.g., handouts) as needed to support learning
- Track and report apprentice progress to the lead instructor and EDS Training Team
- Assist in the development of new training modules
- Understand and comply with the client's policies and procedures
- Learn new material to keep up with changing technology
- Ensure cleanliness of instructional areas and classrooms
- Ensure proper operation of client's equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate person
- Report any safety issues or maintenance needs of the training grounds
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities:
- Qualified journeyman lineman or cable splicer
- Ability to meet goals and objectives under the supervision of a lead instructor
- Possess strong interpersonal skills
