We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Apprentice Engineer to support the daily operations of an 11-story commercial high-rise building. This position works closely with the Chief Engineer and Journeyman Engineer to ensure all building systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
The ideal candidate is eager to grow within commercial building operations and develop advanced engineering skills while gaining practical, hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the day-to-day maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC/R systems
Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on building equipment
Monitor and ensure proper daily operation of HVAC/R systems
Replace air filters, adjust and replace belts, lubricate bearings, and repair motors and capacitors
Clean cooling towers and punch/clean chiller tubes
Conduct water treatment testing and evaluations
Service restroom plumbing systems, including snaking and augering drains
Generate and rekey building keys using the Schlage key system
Complete minor drywall repairs and painting
Communicate equipment issues and operational concerns to the Chief Engineer
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Qualifications
EPA 608 Universal Certification (required)
Working knowledge of HVAC/R systems
Experience with Energy Management Systems (EMS)
Basic plumbing and carpentry skills
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Basic computer proficiency
Preferred Experience
Experience in commercial high-rise building operations
Exposure to preventive maintenance programs
Familiarity with cooling towers, chillers, and water treatment processes
