Assistant Controller

Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Controller:

  • Lead month-end and year-end close, consolidated financial reporting, forecasting, treasury, and cash management.
  • Oversee property management accounting, including budgeting, reconciliations, financial analysis, banking activity, and client reporting.
  • Manage development and construction accounting, including job costs, commitments, draw requests, lender packages, and budget-to-actual reporting.
  • Maintain brokerage revenue schedules and oversee commission accounting, receivables, and closing reconciliations.
  • Coordinate audits, tax filings, compliance requirements, and internal control enhancements.
  • Provide senior leadership with accurate reporting and data-driven financial insights.

Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 35 years in commercial real estate.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting practices.
  • Advanced Excel skills and subject-matter expertise in Yardi, MRI, or comparable real estate accounting software.
