We are currently looking for a detail-oriented & proactive
Assistant Controller
to join our team at the Central Post office in the heart of Rotterdam.
As an Assistant Controller, you will support financial control, reporting, and business decision-making across multiple entities. You will ensure accurate accounting and reporting, maintain strong financial controls, manage balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, and support compliance and audit activities.
Beyond the day-to-day finance operations, you will contribute to management reporting, budgeting, and FX exposure monitoring. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business, helping to provide financial insights that drive informed decision-making.
You will also play a key role in the SAP S/4HANA transformation programme, supporting testing activities, user training, and continuous process improvements to help shape the future finance landscape of Olenex.
Requirements
Outlook of your main responsibilities:
Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate financial reporting across multiple legal entities.
Review balance sheet reconciliations, manage intercompany processes, and maintain strong financial controls and compliance standards.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals and financial record maintenance.
Contribute to management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support business decision-making.
Monitor foreign exchange (FX) exposures and provide relevant analysis and reporting.
Develop insights through BI reporting and prepare ad hoc analyses for stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal teams, including Global Business Services (GBS), and support internal and external audit activities.
Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, SOP development, and enhanced ways of working within Finance.
Play a key role in the SAP S/4HANA transformation programme, supporting testing, training, and the successful implementation of the new ERP environment.
Provide backup support across the wider Controlling team as needed.
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in financial and management accounting.
Min. 3 years of relevant work experience ideally in a commodity, trading or similar environment.
A good understanding and/or experience of/in the edible oils or food industry.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
