Associate Software Engineer - Java
We are building travel applications that serve millions of searches per day and need a developer who can design and build highly performant back‑end services. The role is part of a cross‑functional Agile team in a hybrid environment (two days in‑office, the rest remote). The successful candidate will own a portion of the system that manages rules, pricing, and data ingestion in real time.
Responsibilities
- Participate in mission‑critical projects that have a direct impact on Priceline’s business.
- Collaborate with a cross‑functional Agile team to experiment, iterate, and ship new product objectives.
- Write clean, maintainable code in Core Java (or a comparable language) for low‑latency, high‑throughput transactional services.
- Use continuous integration and automated testing to deliver reliable software.
- Design and write SQL queries for real‑time data investigation and analysis.
- Understand the codebase, system architecture, and business requirements to make effective changes to applications.
- Communicate ideas, propose solutions, and negotiate compromises respectfully with teammates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 2years of professional experience with Core Java.
- Deep knowledge of real‑time and batch big‑data processing frameworks such as Spark, Kafka, KSQL, Flink, or Apache Beam.
- Experience building applications that integrate with NoSQL stores (e.g., Cassandra, BigTable, MongoDB).
- Hands‑on experience with Spring Frameworks, Web Services, and RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with Microservices, Kubernetes, and Docker is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated alignment with Priceline values: Customer, Innovation, Team, Accountability, and Trust.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary: $85,000–100,000CAD.
