Associate – Projects, Development and Construction
Location: London
Salary: £60,000 - £95,000
We are working with a well-established UK and international law firm, who are seeking a Non-Contentious Construction Associate to join their London office.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regarded Projects, Development & Construction team, advising on a broad range of construction, development and infrastructure matters across sectors including real estate, housing, energy and renewables.
Key Responsibilities
• Negotiating and drafting a wide range of construction, development and project documentation, working with clients from the outset to shape their procurement and contracting strategies.
• Advising on standard form contracts including JCT, NEC, EPC and EPCM arrangements, as well as bespoke agreements tailored to specific project requirements.
• Advising clients on risks in live schemes, including payment issues, delay claims, extensions of time and termination notices.
• Supporting clients to avoid formal disputes by shaping commercial negotiations and deals on live projects.
• Getting involved in business development, with opportunities to build knowledge of the sector and the wider practice.
The Ideal Candidate
• 1-2 years PQE, with previous experience in a construction team or housing practice.
• Experience of non-contentious construction law and standard form construction contracts, along with some exposure to commercial and/or housing development work.
• Good working knowledge of standard form contracts and appointments (JCT, NEC, EPC), their common amendments and market norms.
• Willingness to take on more complex, bespoke agreements and large-scale due diligence exercises with appropriate supervision.
• A genuine interest in the sector, with enthusiasm for developing know-how and contributing to business development.
