Job ID: 7241 Location: St. Paul, MN Area (Local Candidates Only) OpenKyber is seeking an experienced Azure Data Lake Engineer / Azure Database Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise data modernization initiative. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior cloud data professional with extensive experience designing and implementing Azure-based database and data lake solutions in complex enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Azure data services, database engineering, cloud infrastructure, and data transformation while serving as a technical resource and mentor within the team.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement Azure data lakes and database solutions.
- Build and maintain relational and non-relational databases within Azure.
- Develop and optimize data transformation processes and workflows.
- Administer, monitor, and secure Azure database environments.
- Design efficient data storage, access patterns, and performance optimization strategies.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and security teams.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation.
- Support CI/CD deployment processes for database solutions.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
- Mentor other engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Participate in knowledge transfer and ongoing operational support.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing Azure data lakes and Azure database solutions.
- Strong experience with Azure SQL databases and related Azure data services.
- Experience with Azure Databricks.
- Strong Oracle database experience.
- Experience developing and implementing data transformation solutions.
- Experience loading and processing data using Azure data utilities.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts.
- Experience with: Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor, SQL Analytics, Query Performance Insight, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Azure CLI and/or PowerShell.
- Experience implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Strong understanding of Azure security, including role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and network security.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience mentoring technical team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing enterprise-scale Azure Lakehouse environments.
- Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and indexing strategies.
- Experience administering enterprise data warehouse environments.
- Experience with Teradata Data Warehouse.
- Experience supporting enterprise cloud modernization initiatives.
