Backend Developer (Mid-Level)

Overview
We are looking for a Mid-Level Backend Developer to join a high-performing engineering team working on scalable, high-traffic systems. You will play a key role in building and maintaining robust backend services, contributing to architectural decisions, and improving existing platforms.
This role requires strong PHP and Laravel experience, along with a solid understanding of modern backend principles, distributed systems, and clean architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs connecting frontend applications, databases, and third-party services
- Develop backend services using PHP and Laravel within modern architectures
- Apply clean architecture principles, SOLID practices, and maintain high code quality
- Work with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis
- Contribute to microservices-based systems using Docker and containerised environments
- Refactor and improve legacy codebases for performance and maintainability
- Implement unit and integration testing to ensure reliability
- Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
Requirements
- 4+ years of backend development experience with strong PHP and Laravel expertise
- Experience building and scaling applications in high-traffic environments
- Strong understanding of clean architecture, DDD, and SOLID principles
- Experience working with microservices and distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with Docker and modern development workflows
- Strong knowledge of MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Experience with NoSQL technologies such as Redis, MongoDB, or Elasticsearch
- Familiarity with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka
- Experience with testing practices such as TDD and unit testing
- Strong experience with Git and version control workflows
- Experience working with Composer and PHP tooling (PHPStan, PHPMD)
Nice to Have
- Experience working with AI tools or building AI-driven features
- Exposure to CQRS patterns
- Experience integrating with complex third-party APIs
Communication Requirements
- Conversational Spanish required
- Intermediate English required
