Job Description

We are looking for a highly driven Back-End Java s Cloud Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate is a tech enthusiast at heart, someone who lives and breathes clean code, stays up to date with the latest industry trends, and loves experimenting with new tools.

You will work in a modern, state-of-the-art landscape spanning customer-facing applications, API back-ends, and Integration Layers.

You are expected to bridge the gap between robust Java backend development and modern cloud infrastructure owning not just the code, but how it is deployed, scaled, and managed in the cloud.

You won't be maintaining legacy monolithic Java applications. On the contrary, you'll be expected to leverage your software engineering expertise to design, build, and deliver modern API services end to end, while also understanding how to deploy and operate them within a DevOps environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, document, and release independently and in-team new Java-based software features and API services.
  • Build and maintain scalable, secure backend microservices using modern Java frameworks (Java 17+ to Java 21, Spring Boot 3.x).
  • Design cloud-native applications leveraging hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure or AWS preferred; GCP a plus).
  • Provision and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, or equivalent).
  • Package applications using Docker and orchestrate via Kubernetes.
  • Optimize CI/CD pipelines (Aure Pipelines or Gitlab Actions) to ensure seamless, reliable delivery.
  • Solving incidents and communicating with the Functional Analysts.
  • Weekly Guard duty on the whole perimeter of the assigned team.
  • Actively propose modern technologies, architectures, and design patterns to improve performance, reliability, and security.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years in a Java Developer role, preferably in the Energy or Utilities sector.
  • Back-end: ,Java EE, Spring Boot, Microservices with Java 17 C Spring Boot 3.X as concrete hands-on experience
  • API s Web Services: REST hands-on experience
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure (or equivalent major cloud provider) in a Cloud-Native setup.
  • Messaging s Batch-Processing: Modern message broker experience like AWS SQS/SNS, Azure Servicebus or Apache Kafka for event-based communication C Spring Batch for our batch processing;
  • Testing: Junit is the bare minimum
  • Databases: any modern relational DB
  • CI/CD: Azure Pipelines or Gitlab Actions as a minimum
  • PLUS (extra) : ELK, ArgoCD, Keycloak, Kong C JFrog knowledge
  • Fluent in either French or Dutch, next to an excellent understanding of English.
