The Library Support Backend Developer (Senior / Intermediate) is responsible for providing software engineering expertise to enhance and maintain backend services for the Library Support System. This role focuses on improving publisher data ingest pipelines, automating workflows, processing metadata, and supporting API integrations to modernize services for PubAg and related library systems.
Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain Python-based backend services.
- Design and enhance workflow automation processes.
- Support enhancements to the PubAg API.
- Develop microservices and API integrations.
- Maintain architecture documentation and data models.
- Support DevSecOps practices and GitHub workflows.
- Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities.
- Participate in Agile project activities and technical planning.
- Proficiency in Python and Django framework.
- Experience with GraphQL and REST APIs.
- Knowledge of SQL Server and MySQL databases.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Experience using Docker containers.
- Strong Git and GitHub workflow skills.
- Understanding of microservices architecture.
- Experience with DevSecOps methodologies.
- Prior work in library or publishing data systems.
- Agile software development experience.
- Contractors working remotely must attend one in-person meeting annually at Beltsville, MD, 20705.
- Remote work with an annual in-person meeting requirement.
- Participation in Agile project cycles, which may require flexible collaboration hours.
