We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer who is passionate about designing and building scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems. This role offers the opportunity to develop core product capabilities that power applications used by a global user base. You will play a key role in architecting backend services, optimizing system performance, and driving technical excellence across the engineering team.
The ideal candidate has strong backend engineering experience with Node.js , modern database technologies, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms. You should enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, building systems from the ground up, and working in a fast-paced product environment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Backend Development
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services and RESTful APIs.
- Build core platform modules and backend components that support mission-critical product functionality.
- Develop reusable, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and QA teams to deliver high-quality software.
System Architecture & Scalability
- Design scalable backend architectures capable of handling high traffic, low-latency requests, and real-time workloads.
- Build and maintain microservices-based applications with strong focus on reliability and performance.
- Improve application scalability through efficient architecture, caching, and asynchronous processing.
- Evaluate and implement appropriate design patterns and architectural best practices.
Database Engineering
- Design and optimize database schemas for both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Improve query performance through indexing, optimization, and efficient data modeling.
- Manage data consistency, scalability, and high availability across distributed systems.
- Work with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, or similar technologies.
Cloud & Integrations
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain backend services on cloud infrastructure.
- Develop integrations with third-party services such as payment gateways, communication platforms, authentication providers, and external APIs.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable software delivery.
- Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, and optimize system performance.
Technical Leadership
- Participate in system design discussions and architectural decision-making.
- Conduct code reviews and maintain high engineering standards.
- Mentor junior developers and promote backend development best practices.
- Create technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of professional backend software development experience.
- Strong expertise in Node.js using frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
- Solid understanding of JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
- Experience building scalable backend systems and microservices from scratch.
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Design Patterns, Data Structures, and Algorithms.
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and modern software development practices.
- Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in product-based organizations or fast-paced startup environments.
- Exposure to distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and real-time applications.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized deployments.
- Knowledge of caching technologies such as Redis.
- Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and performance optimization tools.
