Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer (Python / FastAPI) to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, API development, database design, and cloud-native architectures. Experience in building enterprise-grade applications within fintech or other regulated industries is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Python and FastAPI.
- Build secure, scalable, and high-performance RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and microservices.
- Design, optimize, and maintain databases using PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices using JWT, OAuth2, encryption, and industry security standards.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with comprehensive unit and integration tests.
- Collaborate with Frontend, DevOps, QA, and Product teams in Agile development cycles.
- Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and support production environments.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to architecture and technical design discussions.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in backend software development.
- Strong proficiency in Python and the FastAPI framework.
- Hands-on experience in developing REST APIs, WebSockets, or gRPC services.
- Strong understanding of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB, including schema design and query optimization.
- Experience with SQLAlchemy, ORM frameworks, and asynchronous programming (asyncio).
- Good understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Familiarity with message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Redis is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of secure coding practices, authentication mechanisms, and API security.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in FinTech, Banking, or other regulated industries.
- Knowledge of API gateways, service mesh, and event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar platforms.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as PyTest.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.
