We're a fast‑growing company, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Ruby on Rails

Backend Engineer to join our team on a full‑time basis. Our engineering team is remote‑friendly but we work from our Surry Hills office 2‑3 times a week to collaborate. We’re looking for a candidate who is passionate about engineering and technology, can solve technical problems and is able to communicate problems and solutions with ease.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in shaping the future of our platform. Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and building RESTful APIs for our front‑end applications and partners
• Integrating with a range of external services such as Salesforce, Auth0, Cloudflare, and more
• Architecting solutions that meet our high availability, security, and performance requirements
• Maintaining our infrastructure on a major cloud provider to support our rapid growth
• Writing well‑structured, tested, and documented code that's a pleasure to maintain
• Working closely with our Product, Design, and other teams to refine deliverables and bring new features to life

What We’re Looking For

We're seeking a passionate backend engineer who can solve complex technical problems and communicate solutions with ease.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of commercial Ruby on Rails experience
• Proven experience integrating with multiple external APIs
• Experience with database design and performance tuning, particularly with PostgreSQL
• Experience designing and maintaining infrastructure with AWS, GCP, or Heroku
  
• Experience with testing frameworks like Rspec
• Experience with high‑volume background job processing frameworks like Sidekiq
• Strong experience designing and maintaining both public and private REST APIs
• Proficiency with development tools like Linear or Jira
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Bonus Points:

• Experience with security best practices (e.g., OWASP, STRIDE)
• Experience with synchronising data between distributed systems
• Experience in high‑volume production environments with strict availability SLAs
• Knowledge of the financial services industry (lending or corporate finance)
• Experience navigating GDPR and/or SOC2
