Our client is a international firm of tech consultancy that is working for a retailer developing a high‐performance, internet‐facing API designed to operate seamlessly across both on‐premises environments and the cloud.

We are looking for engineers with a strong technical foundatio n, for whom principles like the CAP theorem are not just academic concepts but practical tools used to reason about real‐world systems. What are we looking for?

• 8+ years in Java backend enginee ring, includ ing 3+ years hands-on with reactive program m ing (e.G., Vert.X / RxJava / Reactor/AK KA) delivering non-blocking services in production.
• Bu ild high-throughput, low-latency APIs with a pragmatic approach to performance, clean design, and real-world trade-offs.
• Design and deve lop cloud-native microservices in Java, focusing on scalability, resilience, and maintainability (API-first mindset).
• Proven experience on Azure or AWS, building and running services in modern cloud environments (managed services, networking, security basics).
• Own API contr acts (REST/OpenAPI): versioning, backward compatibility, and smooth integrations across teams and systems.
• Deliver with confidence us ing C I/CD and engineering best practices (code reviews, quality gates, automated testing, standards).
• Act a s a senior technical refer ence: collaborate with product/stakeholders, mentor teammates, and support production with incident handling + root-cause improvements .
