Why we're hiring
We're at the point where our product has outgrown its original foundations. Our backend handles real financial transactions, and getting that right — safely, correctly, every time — is now our top engineering priority. We're looking for a senior backend engineer to help us harden how we handle transactions and pay down legacy debt as we scale. If you like turning fragile systems into solid ones, this is a meaty problem with real impact.
What you'll do
- Design and strengthen how we process financial transactions — correctness, integrity, and idempotency first.
- Lead the gradual modernization of legacy code, making it safer and easier to build on (no reckless big-bang rewrites).
- Improve testing, observability, and reliability across the backend.
- Work closely with our small backend and frontend teams, and help raise the engineering bar.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years building production backends with Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong grasp of transactional correctness — database transactions, isolation, locking, idempotency.
- Solid PostgreSQL experience.
- A track record of improving legacy systems safely and pragmatically.
- A reliability mindset and good testing habits.
Nice to have
- Fintech, payments, or other money/data-critical experience (ledgers, reconciliation, audit trails).
- Event-driven patterns (outbox, sagas, message queues).
- AWS, containers, CI/CD.
