Backend Engineer (Node.js/TypeScript) with Data Engineer Experience

Role: Backend Engineer with Data Engineer

Type: 12 month contract

Location: downtown Des Moines , IOWA

Node.js, TypeScript, Express

Lambda, Step Functions

Event-driven architecture (SNS, SQS, EventBridge)

Experience building APIs and microservices

Experience building or supporting data pipelines and ETL workflows

Familiarity with S3-based data lakes and lakehouse architectures

SQL and NoSQL databases

AWS Glue

AWS CDK or Infrastructure-as-Code experience

Lakehouse / Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold)

Python for ETL and data processing

Interesting role - really a hybrid backend engineer with strong data flow understanding. The data lake/lakehouse and medallion architecture is a must have
