Web3 Energy Innovator is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead backend engineering for crypto-based energy solutions. The company is digitizing physical assets like solar farms and batteries through tokenization and smart contracts, building a programmable, capital-efficient platform for DeFi, institutional, and retail investors.
Base pay range$165,000.00/yr - $230,000.00/yr

Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, and deployment of backend systems and APIs using Python
- Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure to support crypto-based energy solutions
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and blockchain teams to define and deliver new features
- Own technical decision-making and guide backend engineering best practices across the team
- Drive code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and documentation
- Optimize backend systems for reliability, scalability, and performance in a fast-paced startup environment
- Stay current with emerging technologies in crypto, distributed systems, and backend architecture
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience developing backend software applications in Python, ideally within SaaS, fintech, startup, or product-driven environments
- High ownership, detail-orientation, and a proactive, self-directed work style
- Experience with Django is preferred; Flask or FastAPI also acceptable
- Experience setting up CI/CD and managing cloud deployments
- Cloud experience with GCP or AWS
- Experience working with databases such as Postgres
- Experience building APIs and microservices
- Interest in crypto
- Previous experience at a crypto exchange or DeFi company
- Exposure to LLM workflows or other AI-native systems
- Node, TypeScript, React experience
