Role

BSA with Java API – Toronto – Full-time (days per week not specified).

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements for system enhancements and new projects.
  • Technical Specification: Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications, including process flows, use cases, and data mapping documents.
  • API Design & Integration: Work closely with API developers to define, design, and implement RESTful or SOAP APIs using Java frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot) for seamless data exchange between systems.
  • System Design & Implementation: Participate in the entire SDLC within an Agile/Scrum workplace, from design to deployment and ongoing support.
  • Quality Assurance & Testing: Assist in creating test strategies, test plans, and test cases, and coordinate UAT to ensure the final solutions meet business needs and quality standards.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical assistance, troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement timely solutions.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Act as a liaison between cross‑functional teams (developers, QA, product owners, management, end‑users) to ensure effective communication and alignment on project goals.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications, user manuals, and training materials.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Technical Systems Analyst, ideally with experience in software development or integration projects.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of API concepts, web services (REST/SOAP), and the API development lifecycle.
  • Java: Familiarity with Java programming concepts and related frameworks (e.g., Spring).
  • SQL: Proficiency in database querying languages, especially SQL, for data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • API Testing: Experience with API testing tools like Postman or Swagger.
  • Agile: Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
