About Our Client
The company operates water and wastewater treatment facilities . The facilities require operational management to ensure treated water complies with municipal bylaws, the National Water Act, and Green/Blue Drop certification standards .
The Role: Certified Process Controller
The purpose of this role is to manage, monitor, and optimise the daily operations of water and wastewater treatment facilities . Reporting to the Plant Manager or Operations Supervisor, the successful candidate ensures that physical, chemical, and biological processes run efficiently while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and handling plant parameters and equipment operations .
Key Responsibilities
Complete 35 years of hands-on experience operating a municipal or industrial wastewater/water treatment plant .
Inspect and monitor unit operations including screening, grit removal, clarification, activated sludge processes, biological nutrient removal, and disinfection systems .
Perform on-site laboratory testing such as pH, dissolved oxygen, MLSS, settleability, turbidity, and chemical dosing checks to adjust process variables .
Operate, adjust, and perform basic maintenance on pumps, aerators, valves, chlorinators, and sludge-handling equipment like belt presses and centrifuges .
Maintain accurate daily logs of plant parameters, flow rates, meter readings, and chemical consumption, and report deviations to the Plant Manager .
Adhere strictly to OHS Act regulations, ensuring correct handling and storage of hazardous chemicals such as chlorine gas, polymers, and lime .
About You
35 years of hands-on experience operating a municipal or industrial wastewater/water treatment plant .
Mandatory active registration with the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) as a Class IV or higher Process Controller as per Regulation 3630 .
Minimum NTC III / N3 in Water Care, National Diploma in Water Care, or a related environmental science/chemical discipline .
Valid Code B or EB driver's licence and own vehicle .
Highly responsible approach to managing physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes .
