We are seeking an accomplished Chief Java Developer to join our team and lead efforts to enhance technical excellence through mentorship and hands-on collaboration.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineers, Developers, Business Analysts, and Testers, to elevate their technical capabilities in cloud-native development. Your goal will be to guide teams in delivering secure, scalable, and resilient systems while improving operational reliability and reducing incidents.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership to teams by addressing real-world challenges and promoting operational excellence
- Offer expertise in backend development using Java or Kotlin and frontend development with React or JavaScript
- Introduce and implement observability practices, including tracing, alerting, and performance monitoring for containerized systems
- Support teams in adopting advanced engineering practices, such as Chaos Engineering, to improve system resiliency and incident handling
- Mentor teams to align their development efforts with future-state architectures and industry best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine engineering workflows, enhance system reliability, and minimize incidents
- Utilize real-world, immersive learning approaches to demonstrate engineering concepts, fostering a “slow down to speed up” mindset
- Facilitate alignment and collaborative growth through practices like value stream mapping and team charters
- Clearly articulate the technical and business benefits of engineering improvements to ensure understanding and buy-in from teams
Requirements :
- At least 7 years of experience in software development
- A minimum of 2 years of experience leading and managing teams, with the ability to provide technical direction, enforce best practices, and deliver high-quality outcomes
- Participation in at least 2 full-cycle projects or multiple projects spanning various phases of the software development lifecycle
- Extensive experience in cloud-native development, including working with Kubernetes for container orchestration and scaling
- Proficiency in backend development with Java or Kotlin and frontend development with React or JavaScript
- Strong expertise in observability practices, including tracing, alerting, monitoring, and managing system performance in production environments
- Proven track record of collaborating with teams to improve system reliability, scalability, and resiliency
- Familiarity with coaching techniques such as value stream mapping and team charters
- Knowledge of horizontal and vertical scaling models for cloud-native systems
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts and their business impact effectively
- Experience with cloud-based platforms such as Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, at a B2 level or higher
Nice to have
- Experience with Chaos Engineering tools like Gremlin
- Knowledge of Chaos Testing and site reliability engineering practices
- Familiarity with Java observability tools and techniques
- Proficiency in Kotlin for backend systems development
- Background in Site Reliability Engineering methodologies
