Principal Cloud DevOps Engineer
Job Summary

We are looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer who will have a holistic approach to systems when driving the definition, building, deployment, and operations of Solera applications in close collaboration with Dev, QA and Ops peers. This individual will lead the creation and evolution of our CI/CD pipelines for deployment and operations of solutions across Solera’s various environments, which may include on-prem or cloud systems. Our products intersect with the automotive and transportation industries and our business is growing every year.

  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Helm Deploy, Spinnaker, Octopus Deploy, Jenkins, NuGet, SonarQube
  • Source Control and Processes: Jira, Confluence, Git/GitHub
  • Languages: Python, PowerShell, batch, bash
  • Infrastructure: AWS (EKS, MSK, EC2, S3, ECR, Secrets Manager, Cognito, etc...), Terraform, Linux administration, Windows Server administration, Docker
  • Backend: MS SQL Server, Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Grafana, Data Dog
  • Traditional internet and security protocols: HTTP, TLS, PKI

Our Team

The IT team runs the entire infrastructure supporting Solera services and customers, powered by on-prem systems in our datacenter and a large public cloud footprint. The team is composed of experts in DevOps, DataOps, Production Operations, IT, and Security, and is a global operation with support around the clock.

Your Role
  • Lead the transition of legacy/manual deployment processes to a completely automated DevOps ready posture
  • Ownership of the CI/CD pipeline for deployment and operations of Solera AWS footprint in an agile and fast paced environment
  • Create and maintain the continuously evolving Solera DevOps CI/CD pipelines across Dev, QA and Production
  • Create and maintain all cloud resources with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Maintain stability across all environments with IaC
  • Develop cross‑functional team strategies towards higher organizational throughput via automation and flexible processes
  • Design and create reliable continuous deployment solutions that yield higher availability and uptime for our internal and external customers
  • Manage operational cost with optimal resource utilization across on‑prem and cloud services, including evolving capacity planning
  • Help the team balance and plan longer‑term projects against the demands of a fast‑changing environment
  • Enforce security policies by ensuring vulnerabilities are tracked and timely addressed
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Solera environments
  • Support Dev and QA teams along the steps of the Software Development Life Cycle by maintaining environments and tools
  • Maintain and develop documentation to facilitate understanding of products, features, and tools, including training material
  • Participate in rotations as necessary in a 24x7x365 organization

Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. Degree in Computer Science/Computer Information Science or equivalent (M.S. highly desirable)
  • 8+ years of experience driving CI/CD for systems being deployed to cloud providers (proficiency with AWS services and associated setup/operations)
  • 8+ years of experience in a 24x7x365 global SaaS/PaaS operation
  • 8+ years of experience with virtualization and Docker containers
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (PowerShell, batch, bash, Python, or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the technologies in our stack and 8+ years of experience in a large portion of the tools and technologies we leverage, particularly CI/CD and Infra stacks
  • High sense of urgency and ownership
  • Great pride in helping teams and individuals
  • Competence in building and designing complex systems leveraging multiple technologies (legacy and new)
  • Ability to ensure consistency in line with industry best practices for CI/CD, code quality, operational readiness, and security
  • Strong organizational skills in a fast‑paced and fast‑changing environment
  • Driven, self‑motivated to learn and ramp up fast
  • Candid and able to hold one’s own as the DevOps representative in cross‑functional teams
  • Ability to perform training and knowledge transfers
