Job Summary

• The Platform & AI Accelerators Pod drives Southwest's next-generation cloud platform transformation — migrating from CloudFormation-based CCP to Terraform-based CCPNext, scaling Backstage Golden Paths, and delivering AI-driven platform accelerators. The team enables faster developer onboarding, consistent enterprise standards, and higher engineering productivity through reusable modules, automation, and AI-enabled tooling adopted across the organization.
• As Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer – Platform & AI Accelerators, you'll lead design and delivery of enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure — building reusable Terraform modules, GitLab-based accelerators, and platform standards adopted across the enterprise. You'll act as a subject matter expert shaping DevOps best practices from our Hyderabad office, driving enterprise-wide adoption of CCPNext and AI-driven acceleration.
• Focus on designing and building enterprise cloud infrastructure automation, pipelines, and cloud capabilities for services on AWS. Partner with application, security, and architecture teams to build re-usable and secure cloud infrastructure to be used by business applications. Operate in a DevOps culture and team, responsible for architecture, design, development, implementation, and ongoing operations of new and emerging technology platforms.

• Evaluate cloud services and architecture to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
• Implement automation tools and frameworks for automatic code deployment (CI/CD)
• Work with the development team to deploy and manage tools that support SDLC automation, configuration management, and release management
• Understand technical architectures with automation to support complex delivery across a wide range of digital and enterprise applications
• Lead the design, development, and evolution of cloud infrastructure
• Establish and/or follow procedures and standards to ensure high quality and quantity of work
• Establish or follow prioritization processes to drive work with a sense of urgency about getting work completed
• Consult with stakeholders to specify requirements and solutions which address business challenges and opportunities
• Serve as a subject matter expert in cloud infrastructure, performing design reviews and consulting with your teams to ensure design best practices
• Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery processes
• May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

• Knowledge of AWS Infrastructure as a Service Automation tools like Cloud Formation
• Ability to understand AWS compute, data sources, security technologies
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IAC)
• Skilled in deployment strategies using Docker for containerization
• Ability to understand the monitoring and management of the build and deployment processes and infrastructure
• Ability to analyze services to ensure security best practices are followed
• Ability to mentor and guide team members' learning, including introducing new ideas and technologies
• Ability to anticipate business needs and lead a team towards identifying and solving cross-domain problems
• Skilled in automated testing solutions for unit testing, integration testing and system testing

• Preferred:

  • Advanced AWS cloud engineering with multi-account, security, and networking depth

  • Terraform as the primary IaC standard — reusable modules, multi-environment, drift management

  • Backstage or developer portal integration for Golden Paths and platform accelerators

  • Advanced CI/CD (GitLab, Jenkins) with governance gates, security scans, and reusable templates
    Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS)

  • AI-assisted development workflows and platform accelerators

  • Automated testing (unit/integration/system) for infrastructure and pipelines

  • Observability and SRE practices for platform reliability

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training

• Required: Advanced-level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in Cloud software or DevOps. 5-7 years of relevant work-related experience

• Preferred:

  • Leading enterprise IaC migrations (CloudFormation → Terraform or comparable)

  • Contributing to reusable Terraform modules or Backstage Golden Paths used across many teams

  • Enterprise platform adoption, modernization, or transformation initiatives

  • GitLab-based CI/CD and platform automation at scale

  • Event-driven architectures (Kafka, EventBridge) supporting platform capabilities

  • AI-enabled developer tooling in production

  • Distributed delivery across globally distributed engineering teams

  • Platform engineering within a large enterprise

• Ability to work extended hours as needed
