Cloud DevOps Engineer
Contract to 31/12/2026 plus extensions| Carseldine |Hybrid Working
We are partnering with a leading Queensland Government client to recruit an experienced Cloud DevOps Engineer. In this role you will be an integral part of a modern transformation initiative, contributing to the optimisation of software delivery processes and the efficient management of cloud infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Key responsibilities:
- Design and build the CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform
- Champion DevSecOps and GitOps principles
- Manage cloud infrastructure environments through automation (AWS, Confluent, Azure, …)
- Design and manage artifact build to host code in modern ways (Serverless, containers)
- Manage orchestration containers and serverless
- Build monitoring and observability solution to monitor performances
- Participate in creating internal devops standard for domains
What we’re looking for?
Requirements & Skills
- Cloud platform expertise with AWS (VPC, serverless, ECS, IAM, etc …)
- Strong Knowledge of IAM
- DevOps/SRE (CI/CD observability, incident response, reliability)
- IaC tool expertise with Terraform (provisioning, managing, state files, locks, etc ..)
- Scripting proficiency: Python, Bash, Java (nodejs is a bonus)
- Advanced GIT skills for managing IaC (branching strategies, PR, reviews, etc …)
- Good development practices (DRY, AHA, modules, advanced HCL logics)
- Secrets management good practices and security focused coding
- A solid understanding of networking (DNS, CIDR, subnets, firewalls, load balancing, etc …)
- A strong belief in DevOps and GitOps core concepts and the “owning things” philosophy
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and strong communication skills.
Nice to have:
- Any AWS or terraform certification is appreciated
- Kafka proficiency (Confluent a bonus)
- Azure and AD related skills
- Database management (Oracle, DB2, DynamoDB, and so on …)
- AI/ML or AWS Bedrock, graph databases (Neo4J) or data warehouse infrastructure (Snowflake) desirable
- Python and Data Build Tools DBT
