Responsibilities
  • Provide direct hands on shop floor support for issues and problems that can’t be solved quickly or efficiently otherwise. Working together and keeping the jobs moving is key.
  • Support production floor on CNC program issues.
  • CNC programming: generate CNC programs for new part numbers.
  • CNC re-programming. Required when product needs to run in a different machine.
  • Generate set up procedures for new part numbers: cutting tools, holding fixtures, sequence of operation, etc.
  • CNC program improvement: old programs or programs that are defective and generate defect parts or not efficient.
  • Verification of work orders: material type and thickness to be the proper one that will be used in production.
  • Tool verification: tools to be updated with any possible engineering change.
  • Design and fabrication of holding fixtures for new part numbers.
  • CNC program modification based on engineering changes on new revision of part numbers.
  • Router use optimization. Use of nesting (optimization) software. Selection of required and compatible part numbers to run in the same stack.
  • Documents preparation for nesting. Set the packager that will contain the group of part numbers that will be run in the same stack.
  • Generate libraries of the part numbers to prepare to be used with the optimization software (nesting).
  • Process improvement: look for opportunities to improve efficiency and/or reduce cost with the implementation of new cutting tools, program modification, etc.

Qualifications
  • 3 years expertise in CNC programming.
  • Ability to generate programs using MasterCam.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
  • Ability to understand customer engineering requirements (PO and configuration information).
  • Good understanding of cutters (flutes, angles, diameters for specific type and use).
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications.
  • Ability to use basic machining measuring tools (scales, calipers, protractor, etc.).
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
  • Ability in 3D modeling in CATIA V5 or MasterCam.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Lean training and Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
