Provide automakers with cutting-edge equipment and solutions to develop tomorrow's clean and connected car.COMPONENT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERMISSIONThe Component Development Engineer is responsible for the development of the components for the new programsThe Component Development Engineer is responsible to forward and coordinate customer and program requirements to all areas of OPmobility's and to OP's suppliersWork is performed in a fast paced environment within tight time constraintsUnusual hours and travel may be requiredThis is a salaried exempt positionRESPONSABILITIESResponsible for the development of the assigned Components for the new programsResponsible for the definition of the system architectures that include the assigned componentSupport OPmobility's Customer centers for the understanding of the specifications and for the key meetings with the OEMResponsible for establishing the Component Technical Specifications based on the OEM specifications and the additional requirements from OPManage the technical discussions with the suppliers:Check conformity of the technical solutions with the specificationsWork with the Program Application Engineer for approving the interface with the fuel tankMaintain the open issue listApprove the design of the components and release the drawingsDVP&R and DFMEA approvalAnalysis of the test results and corrective actionsACTIVITIESAct as expert for consultation to fellow associates and customers with regards to the sub-functions of the assigned componentsSupport the Purchasing Department for the quoting of new programsSupport the Purchasing Department for the development of the supplier baseLead the benchmarking of the assigned componentSurvey technology trends and lead strategic development plan for the assigned commodityLead VAVE / cost reduction plan for the assigned commodityActively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activitiesMust successfully complete all Plastic Omnium required trainingMust comply with all work rules, policies and proceduresMust comply with all safety rules and regulationsProvide support to other positions as neededOther duties as assignedPROFILEPersonal Background3 years or more experience with product development for the automotive industrySkills and AbilitiesDVP&R, DFMEA, DFMA and BOM knowledge is requiredStrong knowledge of the component technologies and functionalitiesStrong understanding of following fields: Fluid Dynamics, Materials, Mechanics, Electro-mechanics, wire harnesses, Injection Molding, Stamping and FuelsAbility to manage the suppliers throughout the developmentAbility to maintain working relationships with suppliers and internal / external customersGood understanding of the assigned component cost breakdownGood understanding of the assigned component production and quality constraintsMust be flexible, dependable and creativeAbility to work independently and in a team environmentProfessional verbal and written communication skills (English required)Must be able to manage time and determine prioritiesWork requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, stooping, driving and sittingMust be able to lift up to 25lbs on an occasional basis#J- *-Ljbffr
