SASRI, a division of the South African Sugar Association, is offering a one-year Computer Science & IT - Graduate Programme in Mount Edgecombe. The role focuses on machine learning techniques to impute missing ground-based climate data, requiring analysis, development, and testing of customised software to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities Analyze research data and prepare reports following supervisor guidelines Write computer code to meet specified objectives Re-engineer existing software to align with new research objectives Develop, debug, and test customized software packages Compile software documentation, including user guides and programming documentation Assist in training researchers, extension specialists, and farmers to use custom software packages Explore machine learning techniques to impute missing ground-based climate data Develop and test software to improve the accuracy and efficiency of climate data imputation procedures Qualifications BSc/Hons Degree in Computer Science (preferably with Mathematics or Physics) Experience and/or training in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or Neural Networks Experience in web programming, Python, and/or R programming is advantageousEmployment Type: internship #J-18808-Ljbffr
