Lisa Cole with Robert Half is partnering with a well established construction and energy company that is looking to hire a Controller. This Controller will serve as the senior accounting leader and strategic business partner to executive leadership.
This is an opportunity would be best for a hands-on Controller or strong Assistant Controller ready to step into a broader leadership role with significant visibility, influence, and impact.
What You'll Do
- Lead all accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, cash management, fixed assets, and month-end/year-end close
- Prepare and analyze GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reporting packages
- Develop budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial models
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and ERP optimization efforts
- Partner with executive leadership on profitability, growth initiatives, acquisitions, and strategic decision-making
- Oversee project accounting, job costing, revenue recognition, and financial reporting for project-based operations
- Manage external audits, tax compliance, sales tax filings, and regulatory reporting
- Mentor and develop a small but growing accounting team
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
- Experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing, service, renewable energy, or other project-based industries preferred
- NetSuite experience highly desired; candidates with strong ERP expertise will also be considered
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
