Purpose of Role:

  • Provide dedicated, locally based Health & Safety support in Ontario to meet operational demand,
  • Ensure provincial regulatory compliance,
  • Assist with Achieving & maintaining COR certification,
  • Support LiUNA-related safety requirements, and
  • Strengthen alignment with organizational HSE leadership standards.
  • Maintain compliance sites.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Represent ATS and our Core Values
  • Consistent on-site support including site visits,
  • Ensuring compliance with Ontario health and safety legislation and adherence to Book 7 traffic control standards.
  • Inspections, and investigations
  • Ontario-specific regulatory compliance
  • Union (LiUNA) safety requirement integration
  • COR audit management
  • Enhanced incident and inspection oversight
  • Field-based coaching and training
  • Maintaining on-line compliance site
  • Proactive hazard identification and risk reduction
  • Continuous improvement of safety performance metrics across Ontario operations
  • Travel to other branches as needed

Qualifications:

  • OHS diploma/certificate required
  • Valid Ontario JHSC Certification (Part 1 & 2)
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario HSE legislation (OHSA, Construction Regs)
  • Experience with COR (Ontario) program requirements; COR auditor certification an asset
    • Experience working within unionized environments (LiUNA preferred)
    • Proficiency with WSIB processes, reporting, and return‑to‑work practices

    • Proficient computer skills including MS Office, digital HSE platforms, and online compliance systems

    Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of Ontario OHSA and Construction Regulations
    • Strong understanding of Book 7
    • Skilled in conducting investigations, root-cause analysis, and hazard assessments
    • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and client safety expectations
    • Strong communication and coaching skills for field-based workforce support
    • Ability to build effective relationships with union partners (LiUNA)
    • Competence using digital safety systems, reporting platforms, and compliance tools
    • Strong organization and prioritization skills in a multi-project environment

    Experience:

    • 5-10 years of progressive Health & Safety experience in construction or heavy industry

    • Experience supporting multi-site operations in Ontario
    • Demonstrated experience working with COR (Ontario) program requirements

    • Experience interacting with MOL inspectors and supporting regulatory visits

    • Experience working within unionized construction settings (LiUNA preferred)

    • Proven background leading investigations, inspections, and safety training

    • Strong experience using trend analysis, leading indicators, and data-driven decision making to improve HSE performance

    • Ability to interpret incident, inspection, and audit data to guide proactive risk reduction strategies
