Job Purpose
The Applications Development Lead Programmer is responsible for participating in the design, development, implementation, and enhancement of enterprise application systems. The role requires close collaboration with Technology Teams, Product Owners, Architects, and Business Stakeholders while following Agile methodologies to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing applications.
The role requires expertise in Java-based enterprise application development, modern microservices architecture, Python development for AI integration, and experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI services, and Machine Learning APIs into enterprise applications. The overall objective is to contribute to application architecture, system analysis, programming activities, and AI-enabled digital transformation initiatives.
Operating Environment, Framework and Boundaries, Working Relationships
Expert-level knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and enterprise application architecture.
Strong proficiency in Python for backend development, AI/ML integration, automation, and API development.
Experience integrating AI platforms such as OpenAI GPT, Azure OpenAI, Google Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, Anthropic Claude, or other LLM services.
Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, embeddings, prompt engineering, and AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
Deep understanding of Microservices Architecture, Design Patterns, SOLID principles, and enterprise best practices.
Hands-on experience designing and developing secure RESTful APIs and AI-powered services.
Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Couchbase, Redis, Cassandra, Graph databases).
Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise applications using Python microservices alongside Java applications.
Ability to build scalable API integrations with external AI/ML services while ensuring security, governance, and compliance.
Strong understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), DevSecOps, containerization (Docker), and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for deploying enterprise and AI-enabled applications.
Ability to conduct code reviews, mentor developers, and recommend engineering best practices.
Work effectively within multidisciplinary Agile teams across geographically distributed environments.
Build secure, scalable, and highly available enterprise applications.
Analyze applications to identify performance bottlenecks, vulnerabilities, and security risks.
Provide timely resolution for production issues and continuously improve application stability, scalability, and performance.

Strong proficiency in Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Microservices.

Expertise in Java Collections, Multithreading, Concurrency, Design Patterns, and Algorithms.
Strong knowledge of REST APIs, JWT, OAuth2, Single Sign-On (SSO), and API Security.
Experience with performance tuning, application monitoring, debugging, and distributed systems.
Experience implementing secure coding standards, unit testing, integration testing, and code quality best practices.
Strong understanding of caching, API gateways, messaging systems, proxies, and enterprise integration patterns.
Python & AI Development
Strong proficiency in Python for backend development and AI application integration.
Experience developing Python REST APIs using FastAPI or Flask.
Hands-on experience integrating enterprise applications with Large Language Models (LLMs) using OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or AWS Bedrock APIs.
Experience with AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar frameworks.
Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, ChromaDB, Milvus), embeddings, and semantic search.
Understanding of prompt engineering, AI agents, function calling, and tool integrations.
Experience building AI-powered chatbots, intelligent assistants, document processing solutions, and workflow automation.
Familiarity with machine learning concepts and libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch is an advantage.
Experience integrating AI services securely within enterprise applications while ensuring governance, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
DevOps & Cloud
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and containerized deployments.
Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Experience monitoring applications using Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, or AppDynamics.
Database & Messaging
