Data Conversion Developer
Duration: 1+ year contract
Location: Onsite in Olympia, WA (MUST BE LOCAL TO WA)
Project Details: This person will be supporting the State of WA HBE project

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Business Analysts, data engineers, and project stakeholders to understand source-to-target mappings, business rules, and data transformation requirements.
Design comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and reusable test cases for data conversion and ETL workflows.
Validate data throughout the migration lifecycle by extracting, comparing, and analyzing data between source and target systems.
Perform SQL-based data validation and reconciliation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of migrated data.
Develop Python scripts to automate data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks where appropriate.
Execute ETL testing to verify data transformations, mappings, and business logic.
Identify, document, and troubleshoot data discrepancies, working closely with development teams to resolve defects.
Support integration and system testing efforts related to data conversion activities.

Required Skills:

5+ years experience with SQL and Azure SQL.
5+ years of hands-on experience using Python for data analysis, automation, or validation.
Experience performing ETL testing and validating complex data migration processes.
Ability to analyze large datasets and compare source and target data for accuracy.
Strong understanding of data mapping, transformation logic, and data quality principles.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience with data conversion or migration testing on large enterprise implementations.
Experience developing automated data validation or reconciliation scripts.
Familiarity with enterprise data warehouse or cloud-based data platforms.
