Data Conversion Developer
Duration: 1+ year contract
Location: Onsite in Olympia, WA (MUST BE LOCAL TO WA)
Project Details: This person will be supporting the State of WA HBE project
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, data engineers, and project stakeholders to understand source-to-target mappings, business rules, and data transformation requirements.
- Design comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and reusable test cases for data conversion and ETL workflows.
- Validate data throughout the migration lifecycle by extracting, comparing, and analyzing data between source and target systems.
- Perform SQL-based data validation and reconciliation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of migrated data.
- Develop Python scripts to automate data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks where appropriate.
- Execute ETL testing to verify data transformations, mappings, and business logic.
- Identify, document, and troubleshoot data discrepancies, working closely with development teams to resolve defects.
- Support integration and system testing efforts related to data conversion activities.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years experience with SQL and Azure SQL.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience using Python for data analysis, automation, or validation.
- Experience performing ETL testing and validating complex data migration processes.
- Ability to analyze large datasets and compare source and target data for accuracy.
- Strong understanding of data mapping, transformation logic, and data quality principles.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with data conversion or migration testing on large enterprise implementations.
- Experience developing automated data validation or reconciliation scripts.
- Familiarity with enterprise data warehouse or cloud-based data platforms.
