Job Description As a Senior Data Engineer I working on our data systems and services, you will collaborate with other data engineers to deliver projects and systems that are critical to Sports Engine's business. We expect our data engineers to be versatile, demonstrate leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic about solving new challenges across the organization as we continue building great products for Youth & Rec Sports athletes.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the design, development, testing, scaling, and maintenance of data pipelines from a variety of source systems and streams (internal systems, third-party platforms, cloud services, etc.), in line with business and technical requirements. Continuously improve the codebase and actively participate in all aspects of the team's work, including Agile ceremonies. Collaborate with engineers and product managers to understand and address data needs. Participate in Agile ceremonies such as standups, retrospectives, and sprint planning. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues as they arise.

Essential Qualifications

BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering, including building data pipelines, workflow orchestration, data modeling, and working with data lakes. Strong programming skills in one or more of the following: Python, Java, Scala, or SQL, with experience writing efficient and reusable code to automate data processing and analysis. Experience with data warehousing concepts, including relational and dimensional data modeling. Hands-on experience working with a variety of data sources such as APIs, real-time feeds, and structured or semi-structured file formats. Experience processing large datasets and building solutions using AWS Glue, Apache Airflow / Amazon MWAA, SQL, Python, and Py Spark. Experience developing both near real-time and batch data pipelines. Experience with AWS data platforms such as S3, Redshift, and Dynamo DB, as well as related tools including Athena, EMR, Glue, and Lambda. Experience working in an Agile / Scrum environment.

Desired Qualifications

Familiarity with software build, release, deployment, and monitoring tools and practices. Experience with ETL tools such as Talend, Informatica, or similar platforms. Experience working with Terraform. Strong background in Test-Driven Development and understanding of testing strategies required for reliable production delivery. Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills and a demonstrated willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and practices. Ability to work effectively across functions, disciplines, and organizational levels.
