Junior data engineer (sql, python) - johannesburg - up to r360k per annum

Responsibilities Collaborate with Data Analysts, Software Engineers, and Product Owners to design and implement data solutions within an agile framework. Assist in shaping data architecture and technical designs using collaborative tools such as Jira. Develop, enhance, and automate data ingestion and ETL processes using low‑code platforms such as KNIME. Integrate and manage data from multiple internal and external sources using SQL, Postgre SQL, and cloud‑based technologies. Utilize Python and Java to build and optimize automation workflows and data‑processing solutions. Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI and Salesforce. Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability across business systems. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices in data engineering. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field. A strong academic record is essential. Candidates who have consistently achieved high academic results and demonstrated excellence in quantitative or technical disciplines will be highly regarded. Strong academic background with a passion for data and technology. Knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Postgre SQL or Microsoft SQL Server. Basic experience with Python and/or Java programming. Understanding of ETL concepts and data integration processes. Exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms. Familiarity with Agile methodologies is advantageous. Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure is beneficial.
