About the role :
We are seeking a Data Modeling & Visualization Engineer / Power BI Developer who thrives at the intersection of data modeling, visual storytelling, and performance tuning.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for building impactful dashboards and reports, who also understands how to manage and optimize the data structures that power them.
What You'll Do
- Design and build compelling, interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for internal stakeholders and external customers
- Develop using both Direct Query and Import models, understanding performance trade-offs
- Create data models, define measures and KPIs, and ensure consistent semantic layers
- Optimize report performance through DAX calculations, model simplification, and query tuning
- Use Power BI Service for workspace management, scheduled refreshes, row-level security (RLS), and sharing/publishing reports
- Collaborate with business users to understand data visualization needs and deliver impactful analytical experiences
- Create, refactor, and maintain stored procedures, views, functions, and complex T-SQL queries
- Optimize queries and execution plans to ensure responsive reporting and dashboard performance
- Participate in data audits and quality checks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity
- Collaborate with DBAs and DevOps engineers to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data pipeline health

- Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Managed Instance
- Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service
- T-SQL, DAX, M Query (Power Query)
- Azure Data Gateway, Power BI Embedded (a plus)
- Excel for ad-hoc analysis and prototyping
- Azure DevOps for work tracking and collaboration
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience with Power BI development
- 4+ years of experience writing advanced T-SQL (procedures, views, joins, performance tuning)
- Understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, snowflake schema, denormalization)
- Strong skills in DAX and Power Query for calculated columns, measures, and data transformations
- Ability to troubleshoot Power BI report performance and implement improvements
- Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation, organization, and communication skills
