About Jarvis Technology & Strategy Consulting:
Jarvis Technology & Strategy Consulting is one of India’s leading political and policy consulting organizations, founded by socio-entrepreneurs from premier institutions such as IIT, ISB, and NIT. With a strong presence across the country, Jarvis leverages data and technology to drive large-scale political campaigns, design action-oriented community outreach programs, enable targeted communications, and improve the effectiveness of government initiatives.
The organization works at the intersection of policy, governance, strategy, and technology, offering young professionals a dynamic and fast-paced work environment with significant learning and growth opportunities.
About the Role:
We are hiring a Data Visualization Expert who can turn raw numbers into compelling visual stories. You will partner with analysts, leadership, and clients to design, build, and ship dashboards and reports — owning both the visual design and the technical implementation end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and build dashboards, infographics, and narrative reports that communicate complex data simply and beautifully.
• Convert datasets into storyboards — structuring reports with a clear flow: context → trend → insight → recommendation.
• Apply visualization principles — chart selection, color theory, data-ink ratio, information hierarchy, and accessibility — to every deliverable.
• Build and maintain interactive dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or Looker Studio.
• Develop production-grade dashboard applications using React / Next.js (frontend) and Go / Ruby on Rails / Node.js (backend).
• Design and consume RESTful APIs; integrate data sources into live dashboard interfaces.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries; pull and shape data independently for visualization needs.
• Query MongoDB using aggregation pipelines and document filtering for dashboard data layers.
• Build custom chart components using D3.js, E-Charts, Recharts, or Chart.js within the frontend stack.
• Produce client-ready PDFs, decks, and one-pagers (PowerPoint / Figma / Canva).
Required Qualifications:
• 2–5 years of experience in data visualization, BI reporting, or full-stack dashboard development.
• Deep understanding of visualization principles: chart selection, color theory, data-ink ratio, information hierarchy, and accessibility (WCAG AA).
• Proficiency in at least two BI tools: Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or Google Data Studio.
• Expert SQL — complex joins, window functions, CTEs, subqueries; solid grasp of DDL, DML, DCL, and DQL.
• MongoDB — aggregation pipelines, document queries, and schema understanding.
• Frontend: React or Next.js — component architecture, state management, API integration, responsive UI.
• Backend: Go (Gin / Echo), Ruby on Rails, or Node.js — REST API design, authentication, data serving.
• Experience integrating charting libraries (D3.js, E-Charts, Recharts, Chart.js) into production frontends.
• A demonstrable portfolio of dashboards, reports, or data products is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of Python (pandas + plotly / matplotlib) or JavaScript (D3.js, Chart.js).
• Experience designing in Figma, Adobe Illustrator, or Canva for polished print / PDF outputs.
• PowerPoint mastery — building decks that look like consulting-firm output, not stock templates.
• Familiarity with Google Apps Script / Google Sheets dashboards is a plus.
• Prior work in consulting, data journalism, agencies, or analytics-heavy domains.
What You‘ll Bring:
• A storyteller’s instinct — you naturally ask “What is the headline of this data?”
• Ability to own a visualization from database query to deployed UI without handing off.
• Obsession with detail: alignment, spacing, font weights, axis labels.
• Curiosity about the data itself, not just how to display it.
• Ability to take vague briefs and produce 2–3 visual options to choose from.
Portfolio Requirement:
Applications without a portfolio (link, PDF, or sample dashboards) will not be considered. Please share 2–3 of your best examples that demonstrate:
• A dashboard you designed and built end-to-end (interactive preferred).
• A custom-coded dashboard or data product built with frontend + backend technologies.
• A narrative report (PDF / deck) that tells a clear data story.
One “before vs. after” — a dataset you transformed into a clear visual.
