At Sovos , we manage and scale the database infrastructure that powers tax compliance for more than 100,000 customers across 100+ countries. As a Senior Database Administrator , you'll be a hands-on technical leader responsible for the performance, security, and availability of our enterprise database environments — keeping mission-critical Saa S applications running at their best.
Serve as a subject matter expert for critical database technologies, leading resolution of complex incidents and performance issues across Oracle, SQL Server, Mongo DB, Snowflake, Postgres, and My SQL environments
Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning solutions to optimize query response times and system throughput
Collaborate with software engineers and tech leads to review query designs and schema changes, ensuring efficiency and scalability prior to deployment
Lead the implementation of patches, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime, including backup/recovery strategies, high-availability setups, and disaster recovery testing
Mentor and support junior DBAs and application teams, driving adoption of database best practices across the organization
Collect and analyze performance metrics and provide intelligent recommendations for system improvements
Communicate database health, maintenance status, and potential risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Leverage AI-assisted tooling and automation to streamline monitoring, root cause analysis, and operational workflows
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent experience
~7+ years of hands-on Database Administration experience
~ Fluent English, written and verbal
~ Availability to attend the office once a week (Condesa, CDMX)
~ Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills with a deep understanding of database internals
~ Solid, hands-on experience with Oracle (Exadata, RAC) and SQL Server environments
~ Ability to manage multiple projects, support tickets, and team goals simultaneously
