We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our team and support enterprise-scale database environments across Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Postgre SQL .
This opportunity is also well suited to experienced Principal Database Consultants , Lead Database Administrators , and Senior Database Consultants with strong enterprise database administration experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, administering, optimizing, and supporting mission-critical database platforms while ensuring high availability, performance, security, resilience, and disaster recovery across complex production environments. You will also provide technical leadership, mentor junior team members, and collaborate closely with infrastructure, application, and development teams.
Key Responsibilities 1. Database Administration & SupportInstall, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Postgre SQL environments.
Design and manage Development, Test, Staging, and Production database environments.
Configure database monitoring, alerts, and automated maintenance plans.
Deploy database releases, patches, and change scripts into production environments.
Manage database security, user permissions, and access controls.
Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL scripts, stored procedures, and database objects.
2. Performance, High Availability & Disaster RecoveryDesign, implement, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions aligned with business RPO and RTO objectives.
Configure and support High Availability (HA) and database replication solutions.
Monitor database performance, capacity, and health, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
Perform query tuning, index optimization, execution plan analysis, and server configuration improvements.
Support capacity planning and ensure optimal database performance across enterprise environments.
3. Technical Leadership & CollaborationProduce and maintain technical documentation, database standards, and operational procedures.
Work closely with infrastructure, application, and development teams to deliver reliable and scalable database services.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and best practice guidance to junior Database Administrators.
Participate in database architecture, technology roadmap, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support business-critical, high-availability production environments while ensuring operational excellence.
Requirements & Qualifications Must-Have Skills10+ years of enterprise Database Administration experience.
Strong hands-on experience administering:
Microsoft SQL Server IBM DB2Extensive experience installing, configuring, and supporting enterprise database platforms.
Advanced SQL development, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
Experience implementing:
High Availability (HA) Disaster Recovery (DR) Backup & Recovery Database Replication Database Security & Governance Database Monitoring Capacity Planning Patch & Release ManagementStrong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Experience supporting business-critical, high-availability production environments.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and documentation skills.
Technical Skills Microsoft SQL Server IBM DB2 SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) Windows Server Administration Production Support EducationRelevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Microsoft SQL Server certification(s) preferred.
IBM DB2 certification(s) advantageous.
