Base pay range
CA$40.00/hr - CA$50.00/hr
Apex Systems is a large staffing and consulting firm and we are looking for a Database Developer with Snowflake experience, Python and Shell Scripting, and strong SQL skills to place at our client, a top 5 Financial Institution.
- Contract: 6-months contract (potential for extension or conversion to FTE)
- Location: Toronto, Downtown Core (2 days/week)
Key Qualifications:
- Database Developer with 5+ years of experience in Snowflake
- Snowflake Expertise – Nice to have / Preferred.
- Strong Experience in SQL Database Development
- Strong Query Tuning & Optimization skills
- Good Python Scripting knowledge
- Knowledge of software development practices, concepts, and technology
- Asset Management / Wealth Management knowledge (Data) – Nice to Have
- Ideally some exposure to AI functions, or experience building AI based-tools
Responsibilities:
- Development with Snowflake features such as Snow SQL, Python
- Data warehousing - OLTP, OLAP, Dimensions, Facts, and Data modeling.
- Developing EL pipelines in and out of data warehouse using combination of Python and Snow SQL.
- Design, implementation and operationalization of large-scale data and analytics solutions on Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse.
- Developing scripts PowerShell, Python etc. to Extract, Load and Transform data, as well as other utility functions.
- Provide production support for Data Warehouse issues such data load problems, transformation, translation problems.
- Translate mapping specifications to data transformation design and development strategies and code, incorporating standards and best practices for optimal execution.
- Understanding data pipelines and modern ways of automating data pipeline and clearly document implementations, so others can easily understand the requirements, implementation, and test conditions.
- Perform code reviews to ensure fit to requirements, optimal execution patterns and adherence to established standards.
