The Railroad Commission of Texas is seeking three Developer/Programmer Analysts, Level 3 to support the transition of reporting and data-extract capabilities from legacy Mainframe IMS systems to a future cloud/data-lake environment.
The role focuses on:
- Reverse engineering mainframe-based data extracts and reports
- Integrating data into Snowflake
- Supporting downstream analytics and reporting through Power BI
- Bridging legacy systems with modern cloud/data platforms
- Ensuring data accuracy, reliability, and availability for business intelligence needs
Key Responsibilities
- Work with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, data-extract needs, and downstream data consumption.
- Reverse engineer existing data extracts and document data flows and requirements.
- Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines into Snowflake.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with data engineers and architects on:

- Data modeling
- Schema design
- Transformation logic
- Validate and reconcile source-to-target data across Mainframe, Lonestar, Open Systems, and Snowflake.
- Develop data conversion and system implementation plans.
- Design database schemas to persist required data.
- Support Power BI datasets, semantic models, and dashboards, using Snowflake as the primary data source.
- Troubleshoot issues across the complete data pipeline, from source extraction through Snowflake and Power BI.
- Document technical processes, data flows, and system dependencies.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and production support.
- Prepare and obtain approval for system/programming documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations related to report development.

Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years: Informatica, Matillion, Azure Data Factory, or similar data integration tools
