Position: Developer Programmer
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $96,000 to $120,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Developer Programmer to join their team in support of a major financial client. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in building scalable, secure, and high-performance applications using Java, Spring and Spring Boot frameworks. Familiarity with Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) and Agile development methodologiesis essential.
You will be working on mission-critical systems that support financial operations, contributing to both greenfield development and modernization of legacy systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.
- Implement and advocate for Event-Driven Architecture and microservices-based solutions.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to iterative software delivery.
- Write clean, scalable, and testable code following best practices and coding standards.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Work closely with DevOps and QA teams to streamline CI/CD and testing pipelines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree qualification in relevant field
- A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience with Java (preferably Java 11 or newer).
- Strong experience with Spring Framework (including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, etc.).
- A minimum of five (5) years of commercial Spring Framework experience is required.
- Solid understanding and practical experience with Event-Driven Architecture and messaging platforms (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred:
- Experience in the financial services industry or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Understanding of security best practices and compliance standards in financial systems.
