Development Engineer

Salary: £35k-£40k

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Development Engineer to join an innovative engineering business developing advanced opto-mechanical products. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full product development lifecycle, from early-stage concepts through to product validation and manufacture, while working on technically challenging projects in a collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering projects from concept through to manufacture
- Develop new products and processes - supporting NPI
- Plan and carry out laboratory testing, analysis and product validation
- Produce technical documentation, reports and engineering specifications
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve product performance and manufacturing processes
- Support continuous improvement activities and technical problem solving
Key Skills & Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics or a related engineering discipline
- Industrial experience in product development or R&D
- Experience with lab testing, product validation and technical reporting
- Understanding of mechanical design principles and precision engineering
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- CAD experience and knowledge of manufacturing or NPI processes is advantageous
