Development Manager - Java Full Stack

Responsibilities

  • Provide constructive feedback and influence the performance and career development of high‑performing engineers.
  • Own the full stack of our products and collaborate with peers across cross‑team initiatives.
  • Collaborate continuously with multiple departments to understand their business and product strategies and translate those into strategic technical plans.
  • Decide with senior management on long‑term technology road‑maps and the execution of existing initiatives.
  • Lead multiple projects—including planning, prioritization, and task delegation.
  • Enforce accountability for the quality of the software that is crafted.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven leader in hiring, mentoring, coaching and developing engineering talent, including performance management.
  • Experienced knowledge of Java and backend technologies, including Python and/or JavaScript, with strong understanding of API design, web services and industry‑standard methodologies such as RESTful architecture and/or microservices patterns. Conceptual understanding of SOAP‑based services.
  • Proficiency in Java ecosystem tools and frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, Maven/Gradle) with strong hands‑on experience in GraphQL for API design and cross‑service communication. Solid understanding of Node.js and/or TypeScript for backend services.
  • Familiarity with React.js is a plus, with enough working knowledge to effectively lead and collaborate with frontend engineers embedded within the team.
  • Crafty problem‑solver who excels in a fast‑paced environment and removes barriers.
  • Ability to drive the development of high‑scale systems and system integrations.

Salary range: $130,000‑155,000 CAD.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid model: two days on site as determined with your manager (ideally selecting among Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday). The remaining days can be remote.
