About the Role
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with a strong software engineering background in Java or Python and extensive experience in cloud infrastructure and automation. The ideal candidate combines DevOps expertise with infrastructure-as-code, scripting, and the ability to build lightweight administrative interfaces that support operational workflows.
This is a fully remote contract opportunity for an engineer who enjoys designing scalable infrastructure, automating deployments, and collaborating closely with development teams to deliver reliable, secure, and efficient platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
- Develop and maintain automation tools and deployment pipelines.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud-native applications.
- Develop backend automation and tooling using Java or Python.
- Create and maintain infrastructure using Terraform.
- Develop lightweight administrative dashboards and internal tools using TypeScript and modern frontend technologies.
- Build and enhance admin panels for operational monitoring, configuration management, and support functions.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and optimize platform reliability.
- Implement security best practices, access controls, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with software engineers, product teams, and SREs to improve deployment and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Strong programming experience in Java or Python.
- Hands-on expertise with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript.
- Experience developing lightweight frontend applications or internal admin portals using frameworks such as React.
- Experience designing and building administrative dashboards or operational tooling.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Linux administration, scripting, and system troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog.
- Strong understanding of Git, branching strategies, and collaborative development workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service infrastructure.
- Knowledge of cloud security and IAM best practices.
- Experience with serverless architectures and event-driven systems.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, or other data stores.
- Experience with API development and integration.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in distributed remote teams.
