Join our team as a DevOps Engineer!

This is a fixed hybrid role on‑site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at HQ in Maple Plain, MN. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our expanding team. The position will work closely with IT, development, and other technology stakeholders to maintain, develop, and support our growing internal and external business applications at Protolabs.

What You'll Do
  • Part of a team responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of version control systems, build tools, and continuous integration tools.
  • Work closely with development teams to support applications and promote Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Continuously identify ways to improve deployment reliability and reduce the level of manual intervention required.
  • Design and implement high‑availability solutions, including load balancer configurations.
  • Participate in 24/7 support coverage for your area of responsibility, including occasional after‑hours work and on‑call duties.

What It Takes
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3–5 years of relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing servers in an enterprise environment.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting code releases for highly available applications.
  • 1+ year of experience supporting server configuration management tools.
  • 1+ year of experience supporting highly available applications.
  • Strong ability to identify manual processes and automate them to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

$87,400 – $131,000 a year

Protolabs offers a competitive total rewards package; compensation mix varies based on position, such as base wage and other earnings including incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary depending on factors such as job function, work experience, specialized skills, training, education, and certifications.

Physical Demands

Work Environment

Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
