For a major financial services organization in the Netherlands, we are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer for a 6-month assignment, with a possible extension.
The role focuses on infrastructure automation, Kubernetes management, CI/CD pipeline optimization, security remediation, and operational tooling. You will work in a complex enterprise environment where standardization, automation, security, and reliability are key.
Role Description
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and improving scalable infrastructure and automation solutions. You will work closely with development, operations, security, and platform teams to ensure that cloud-native environments are secure, efficient, and future-proof.
You will play an important role in reducing manual operational work through automation, improving CI/CD processes, and strengthening the security and maintainability of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible.
- Develop clean and maintainable automation scripts using Python and Bash/Shell.
- Deploy, configure, scale, and secure enterprise Kubernetes clusters.
- Architect, optimize, and secure end-to-end Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain and improve Git-driven automation workflows, branching strategies, and pull request templates.
- Identify, patch, and remediate security vulnerabilities across operating systems, containers, and pipelines.
- Configure and maintain monitoring and logging using Splunk Enterprise.
- Improve platform reliability, observability, security, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to standardization, automation, and continuous improvement across DevOps processes.
Required Technical Skills
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with:
- Python for automation, tooling, and scripting.
- Bash/Shell scripting for operating system and pipeline automation.
- Kubernetes management, scaling, troubleshooting, and security.
- Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
- Ansible for configuration management.
- Azure DevOps boards, repositories, artifacts, and multi-stage YAML pipelines.
- CI/CD pipeline design, optimization, and security.
- Secret management and self-hosted Azure DevOps agents.
- Git workflows, repository management, and GitOps methodologies.
- Container scanning, OS patching, IAM hardening, and network policies.
- Vulnerability management and security remediation in enterprise environments.
